Comparative assessment of ISO and TQM in the international companies

Abstract

To improve the efficiency of production processes, it is necessary to know which management methods to apply and what aspects to emphasize. Studies show that none of the existing quality systems can be considered perfect; therefore, it is important to navigate among their variety and understand the advantages and disadvantages of each. The article identifies the positive and negative aspects of the ISO 9000 series standards, which describe the basic requirements for quality systems, and, against this background, demonstrates the advantages of Total Quality Management (TQM). The main principles and quality tools are analyzed. The authors conclude that under modern economic conditions, the most effective quality system is a philosophical approach to management based on TQM.
