Strategic approaches to the formation of the investment clusters in small Russian towns

Abstract

The strategy of the investment development in small towns is based on the studies of the priority clusters and effective infrastructure. According to the research, the main engines of investment development of such towns as Maikop are “Construction”, “Education”, “Recycling”, “Alternative Energy”, “Tourism” and “Trade”. The article identifies the problems of the Maikop investment areas development on the basis of PEST-analysis. In terms of the research the authors made a conclusion that there are several prerequisites for the potential investment clusters organization in the different sectors of Maikop. In this case, it is expedient to split all the sectors on the basis of the long-term investment attractiveness and competitiveness of the investment projects. The recommended strategic approaches to the formation of the investment clusters in the small Russian cities will harmonize the interests of the socio-economic development and the investment activities of the participants of this process.
