Stages of institutionalizing corporate social responsibility in Russia and neighbouring countries

Abstract

With the start of market reforms in Russia, the relationship between government and new owners who came to manage formerly state-owned enterprises as a result of privatization has changed – from the “quasi-responsibility” of the post-Soviet period to corporate social responsibility voluntarily assumed by companies in relation to internal and external stakeholders. Based on a historical approach and international practice, the article describes the institutionalization of CSR in Russia and neighbouring countries, the results achieved and possible prospects for further development.
