Initial public offering of shipping companies as a method of financing and privatization
Abstract
This article looks at the specifics of initial public offerings (IPOs) in the shipping industry. The shipping sector is a market of great interest, with a long history in our country; the economies of many countries are based on shipping. The IPO review includes a theoretical overview of the IPO with a focus on the shipping sector, it also includes an overview of the shipping industry, describes the shipping market, financing methods in the shipping industry, and provides a picture of the financial cycles of the shipping business with reference to the financial performance of shipping companies. The article reflects a systematic analysis of all related parties in the IPO process and describes the role and interests of the company that goes public, the bank responsible for the IPO (underwriter), and investors.
