Poverty as a constraining factor of social and economic development of regions of Russia (on an example of Volgograd region)

Abstract

This article is dedicated to the research of socio-economic situation in a region on an example of Volgograd region. We examined the origin of development of the region in forms of dynamics of population, its composition and structure. Income and poverty levels in the region had been analyzed. The authors presented a new classification of poverty, subdivided into economic and social ones. The authors put forward measures to combat poverty and possible methods that could influence by local administration the economic development in the region.
