Advantages and disadvantages of single currency: the experience of European monetary integration

Abstract

The article examines the experience of monetary integration in Europe. The advantages and disadvantages of the introduction of the single European currency are outlined. The main problems of the functioning of the euro are identified. Specific examples of crisis phenomena in countries after their entry into the Eurozone are given. Recommendations of leading economists of the world for overcoming the crisis in Europe are presented. An assessment of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union regarding the possibility of introducing a single currency following the example of the EU is carried out.
